49er Ice Hockey
49er Ice Hockey a college hockey organization representing California State University, Long Beach. We compete in the ACHA division II, Western region. Our season consists of 20-25 games (excluding post-season) We regularly compete against other ACHA member teams in Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Utah, Northern California and more!
Sound fun? It is! If you are interested in learning more about, or what it takes to play, here is a checklist of what you need to do to play:
1.) Send email to 49ericehockey@gmail.com and express your interest in 49er Ice Hockey.
2.) Be a CSULB student enrolled in at least 9 units (6 units for grad students).
3.) Attend our pre-season tryout camp.
During the season (late August – February), practice is held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:45 – 9:15 AM at the Glacial Garden Skating Arena in Lakewood. Occasionally the schedule changes due to travel, holidays, etc. Active players are required to attend all practices. Special exceptions for work or illness are granted.
New players (current or prospective students) interested in the team are welcome to attend a practice but must contact the team first.
Long Beach State raised over $2500.00 with there 1st annual pink jersey auction. Players wore a special Pink-Ribbon version of their jersey to help raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer research.
